In a stunning feat of probably sleep-deprivation, I was one of the many fools who clicked on the link that was posted on the hacked shoebox lj-community yesterday, before reading all the posts going ABORT ABORT DON'T CLICK THE FUCKING LINK ABORT a few hours later. ARRRGH! Turns out it was one of these suspect Russian sites that apparently installs ( Read more... )

I dunno when you posted this, so you might have realized by now, but Ad-aware always locates about a billion little tiny not-much-conseuquence things on your computer. If it finds anything big, it goes BLORP, scaring the everyloving crap out of me because my computer never goes BLORP why is it going BLORP o god -- eugh, delete, delete, delete! Though I make no promises about the BLORP, my Ad-aware is a bit old, but the finding a trillion nothing-muches is pretty standard.

Yeah, it turns out it was mostly just a bunch of these irritating and 'benign' pop up cookie things (?? or something, man I am ever so computer unsavvy sometimes) AND a suspicious other thing I forgot the name of that I immediately deleted. BEGONE FOUL INTERNET THING! Ran another Avira scan today, found nothing, and am giving Ad-Aware SE a whirl now. Man this rampant sense of paranoiaaaaaa, it is ever so unpleasant :///
(Have been stalking the sbp_cult comm to see what other people have been doing and it seems like there are either people who have been totally let off scotch free OR those who found trojans lol whaaat. TVTropes has apparently also been hacked?? Man, good thing I didn't click there the other day ://)

Oh man, now I have whiiiiiiined at you about my com woes, but thanks for the Ad-aware heads up comment anyways :D Hope all is well~~

Oh snap, there's another person on my FList who clicked on a link like that too. Have you managed to get it fixed back to dandiness again?

Well aaaaaaaapparently nothing was wrong after all?? Yay for strong firewalls and shit. The only thing I should theoretically do is run a specific check for keyloggers, but I am leery of all the programs offered online for it and I doubt that one could slip through THREE different full system checks on diff antivirus systems. Asked Andy too and he figured I am all in the green, so here's hoping! Am still not gonna do any online banking until at least 1 to 2 weeks though, just to be sure! HAET HACKING SHIT :
