Black Sand Pearl aka the Truck has over 200,000 miles on her. As she gets up there in miles, well I think hard about how much road I'm tacking on each week/month/year. Some mega things are going to be done to her like new springs, lift, bedliner and paintjob complete with tinting. This will be my city car I RARE take off road save for civilized trips w/ roads. It also means she'll last longer which is the goal of a paid off car.
Sooooooooo, now I must look into another vehicle. Not new either but definitely more shit on her than BSP. I've had my eye at one time on Subarus but found the prices out of my reach. Next year I will have my CC down to a decent payment so it looks more like I can think about getting another ride so I send the truck to the painters or lift companies yet still have something to drive to work. I also thought about how Subaru is known for having AWD on its vehicles, safety ratings, campability (very well known) plus some other doo hickies. They have barely any room in the backseat so someone like Mike whose 6'3 would be somewhat uncomfortable. Passenger seat isn't any better but more moveable. The main reason I look to dual purpose is I do more than just drive in my vehicles. They are a second home on the road; a tow vehicle (can actually tow a bit more like an small pop up or Aliner), mini-camper and eco-friendly option to big o' lifted trucks that just make alot of noise when they go by. Yes, I want my girl lifted but only JUST enough to load up strawbales, get outta those stupid highbeams reflector crap lights and well give my BSP a shine she deserves for lasting under my still poorly shifting hands. :)
The Subaru replaces my bus but only just-after all with a tow hitch attached the bus can tow the Subaru.
