Storm is coming, came and went

In its wake left my network card and surge protector in flames. This happened friday when a massive lightening bolt blew power out of our area for five long, hot, humid, stormy hours. So around 8pm-ish we get power back (and A/C thank the Gods). I remember mentioning that I wanted to procrastinate less; complete tasks sooner. I had not even really packed on friday for our Vegas trip though I had the night before finished washing and so forth. Well, that storm of storms killed my usual brain washing time on-line. Instead I rested, sweating and eventually packed most of my stuff. Also cleaned the cat's box, got their food together. I prayed hard to do better at this only to start to slip into old habits. This is a sharp reminder to stick to my goal. So even though I got the computer working again, I still went to unpack, washing my pillow, cleaned up the mess from all those boxes and now I'm relaxing a bit. Still got to eat but ah well.

Vegas was fun though I wouldn't want to go all the time with Bro especially since he snores way loud! LOL. J/K. It felt good to hang with family and just talk/be snarky with each other. I could tell though that this cross country move is weighing on Marcus' mind. Many times he'd be sitting just lost in thought about what he had to do. It seems like so much in so short a time but he is good at dropping stuff to move. Granted he has not done so since moving back to California in 2004. He has a good base of friends/support. Family is right here and though he is very much a bachelor, he does game his brains out. I know he will do well because he has the same kind of personality that Dad had when it came to socializing with important people. He'd like to move upwards which can't happen when you sit in the same position forever and ever. Marcus says he has people at work (as do I) who complain about their work but do not do anything to improve it or move up or even change positions. I am the first person to tell you I am not intereseted in being a supervisor or move anywhere from my spot. Anyway, bro is convinced if he wants to not only live a comfortable life he will have to move to the right places, rub elbows with the right people, say the right things generally learn how the higher uppers came to where they are now. That is something, had he lived, Dad would have done. He had more ambition than his two kids but we have more time now with better, more ways to go forth. Only now am I realizing that sitting in the same desk for 25 yrs will not guarantee a fulfilling life. I think Marcus is realizing this as well. Plus the opportunities to meet women along his own mindset will be better. As long as she doesn't mind him being a gamer at heart. :D

I also had been saying several times I needed to update this system in hopes it would run better. Yeah. New ethernet card, 1 gb of memory added and brand new HD 250GB. Only thing left is the processor (end of year) and another memory added. I'm waiting for Windoze to put out the next generation of XP service pack. I'm not interested in Vista. XP S2, while has its issues it has for me been way less buggy than Win98 which I loved.
