I drifted by the hellenic pagan yahoo group to see if it has changed. Nope. Still the same. Heavy on the critical knowledge with a few jerks mixed in to act like troll know it alls.
Still for a mixed up group, there is some wisdom there or at least it is great for a few good laughs. :)
On a more seroius note, I am trying to decided if I want to put in for Neokoroi's group. Obviously, I enjoy how strong their devotion to Hellenismos along with the practical and academic know how flows on their main website. I do remember mentioning how Apollon is pushing me to be more seirous in my faith and not so "should I or shouldn't I". I rarely get questions as to what faith I am at work. They tried to bother me about xtians and the like but gave up years ago when I put my foot down on what I will listen to without making much noise. Of course, we have a ton of "jesus freaks" at the job along with some serious "I'll talk god and jesus and won't you make a great christian mystic if only you'd let god in" etc etc. Wow is that irritating. Yes, someone said this to me at work to which I laugh and say, I'm already am just not in your mind.
Anyway, I digress. I'd like to be able to respond in a respectful but firm tone regarding my faith. Don't assume with me. You will not win. Anyway, because I choose not to wear my faith all over my computer, clothes, truck (ok so there is a couple of pagan/goddess type stickers on her including the ever annoying darwin fish). Unless asked, I keep to myself about my religion. Lately I have noticed a slight if not weird increase of everyone's need to validate their faith by sharing it with others. Lots of "god this" and "jesus that" talk. Yeah. Like they really pay any attention to the actual teachings for if they did this would be a much more open-minded group even if working law enforcement can make some cynical of humanity. Soooo, in order to have some answers for questions that may come up as I move from non-custody to law enforcement officer, I feel a bit more comfortable if I already had some back up in the mundane. Can't hurt to ever improve oneself.
