The date (and everything else yesterday)
My lesson on Kelly went well even if I was worn out from all the posting at her trot! I'm getting better at staying stable on her as she goes around in a circle. If I keep my concenstration on the arena line, bend in my seat when I turn, she picks it up really well. We only had a few messes up and Karen says we need to learn to turn better to the right. Time will tell how well we work together on this-maybe on Tues and Thursdays I can get on her and we can practice walking serphine, then trotting as I work on my posting. I have to remember to talk to her when I want something done then correcting the misbehavior as it happens right there. We shall see.
So on friday I spoke with my date, Rae for over an hour about where we were to meet. She picked this place she has breakfast at on Sundays called 'The Abbey'. Turns out it is a sleek place with lots of atmosphere, comfortable couches, hidden cabanas and mostly soft lounge like music before it switche to being a bar/dance place. It had this fireplace were they had some crystal like rocks/stones in it while the fire burned in the middle. Very cool. We talked for a few hours about everything from family, to work, her roommate (who is gay) & a coworker (transgender) to UFO, our pets, camping adventures and so forth. I should say she did more talking than I did but I chimed in where I could. She's a bit eccentric, she has many of the same interests I do which is cool and all. She admitted herself she is somewhat of a homebody but does like to get out and explore places. I can agree on that! We talked so long and all we ran outta things to talk about plus I was tired from my lesson. I got stuck in traffic so it took me a horrific two hours to get there! She was very cool about that so I paid for the drinks & dinner. The date ended kinda abruptly with only a hug and "lets do this again" and I was left standing waiting for my car.
All in all, its a nice date and all but I don't think we'll be more than friends. The spark is definately not there but the companionship is totally cool. We agreed to go out again, maybe I'll pick Long Beach this time. Get away from the falsness that is L.A. to the....whatever of LB. Besides, the DT area of LB has changed I hear.
