DnD ABCs 2: Setting/Deities

So I'm a little behind on the whole writing up the classes, but I felt like doing something a little different. I think every DM wants to eventually create their own world, so that's what this post is about. One thing that's kind of difficult is how much of the deity stuff is merely legend and how much is true. One thing that I kind of like ( Read more... )

Sorry about the late post, I finally got a secure enough connection to read all the posts.

So I have two major questions: do you plan on doing the dark pantheon as well (Tiamat, grommash, Vecna) as well, or at this time do you think there is enough conflict with the mentioned pantheon they they can be left out, or else brought in for second tier characters?

One thing I kinda miss in 4th ed that 3.5ed had was favored weapons. Of course, with 3.5 most of those weapons were longswords, but I digress. Most would be easy conversions from 3.5, as many were published in the Divine characters book. Only hard ones are for the new major gods/goddesses, Raven Queen inparticular. I think the only pseudo favored weapon in 4th is with a wizard paragon class that favors longswords.... Coreon Lethon (or however you spell it) is mentioned a few times in the text. I don't have my books here, so I'm reliant on you to know what I'm talking about.

I do like how you're implying that the PC Pantheon is actively involved in some conflicts and major events in your campaign though. It's always nice to see something more than: "The church of Pelor wants you to go kill the cultists of Orcus because they are evil, and we are good."

No prob with the late post, sorry for not replying too fast. I don't know if I'll do much with the dark pantheon, I'm not a huge fan of good and evil deities, seems a little silly to me, but I might take some of them, just to make things a little more even.

Favored weapons are a little hard to do in 4e, since the math is balanced fairly well, but it's a cool thought, I might make it where PCs who follow a certain god can use their favored weapon as an implement, which could be neat. There are a couple of classes that let you do that (paragon paths and the like, like a bard one that lets you use the bow as an implement, for example).

And thanks for the comments, it's great to know someone's reading besides my brother, and I like more nuanced deities as well.
