Tox and de-tox

It's getting toxic around here. Our last company day off was June 9th. Our next one is July 21st. Even though we all have some shows off, there hasn't been a day where EVERYONE was able to just let their guard down and be able to forget about operetta for a day. It shows. People are cranky and stressed out. I even snapped in rehearsal tonight (keep in mind, this is me we're talking about, lol!), prompting the choreographer to come up and give me a suggestion for making things simpler.

As for me, I'm doing really well -- much better this year than I was at this point last year (when I realized that giving 110% wasn't an option if I wanted to leave with my voice and sanity intact). I'm in rehearsal for my last show now, and it's an easy chorus show (save for some tricky dancing). But several of my close friends are having a rough time, and still have a show to go. I wish I could make it better, but I really can't, so all I can be is myself and hope that somehow helps.

Today, my friend Jack and I took the afternoon to go to Akron to get makeup and Indian food. It was a really nice afternoon -- a good escape.

Mom and Dad and Fred arrive tomorrow for their week of operetta and Paul-time, and I'm elated. All the rest of my housemates have had their significant others visit at least once by now and have been extremely sympathetic that Fred and I have gone so long without being together. I don't know if we even were apart for this long when I was first in Minnesota and Fred was still in the DC area. We've been OK, though, because I've been so busy with shows and Fred has busied himself with work and with finishing the basement. But the thought that we'll be together in 24 hours is beyond exciting for both of us!

Fred will be spending quite a bit of time with my folks; as I've told my friends here, it's good they all get along!

Tomorrow: Pick everyone up at Cleveland airport at 2:30, have dinner & check-in at hotel; I have L'Etoile Sitz while Fred & Mom & Dad are on their ownr
Thursday: PM - I have Desert Song; Eve - Oklahoma
Friday: PM - Yeomen of the Guard; Eve - Dinner and time with family
Saturday: PM - possibly see Cabaret Girl; Eve - Desert Song
Sunday: PM - Mikado; Eve - Dinner and time with family
Monday: PM - I have L'Etoile rehearsal; Eve - L'Etoile Dress Rehearsal
Tuesday: AM - Get family to Cleveland before my PM Yeomen call :-(

I'm looking forward to this :-)

olo, family
