I shoulda stood in bed.

So, I go to bed way too late (my fault).  I get up too late (7:15) after a poor night's sleep.  Going downstairs as fast as possible, I slip and stumble, wrenching my upper back enough to be painful but not enough to immobilize me.  I rush through the shower.  During the shower, unsurprisingly, the band-aid over the cut on the tip of my thumb comes off.  It's not bleeding and I forgot to let it air last night, so I leave it uncovered, but I am too rushed to grab steri-strips.
I grab coffee, a Naproxen for the back pain, and my pre-packed lunch but skip breakfast.  Out the door at 8:15.   At about 9:00, I reach to turn my cellphone on so that I may catch incoming work calls; my thumb splits open and bleeds all over the cell.  I grope in my 1st aid kit; no band-aids left.  I staunch the bleeding with the towel which I keep handy for spills (but usually not blood spills).
Bad traffic on the highway, and I'm still sleepy and groggy.  Also a little nauseous.  The bleeding has stopped - yay!  When I'm still in Dedham at 9:15 and realize that I am still not fully awake, and not fully safe to drive, I pull over into an empty parking lot.  I send a quick email to my boss and the office that I am not well (too true) and will be in about 11 am (predicted).  I snooze for 30 minutes and eat a couple of carrots from my lunch.  I am awake and no longer naseous.  I roll into the office at 11:10 or so.

Oy.  I shoulda woulda coulda stood in bed.
