I thought I'd kick off 2009 with a new layout. Nice, no? Simple, well done...plus my last one got old fast.
Jeez, I can't believe it's 2009. It never feels like the year it's supposed to be until it's over. Like, last year felt like it should have been 2007 the entire time, but now that it's over, I'm in a 2008 sort of mood. What is wrong with me? Since when have I been a year behind on things? Who knows. I've always wondered what it's like to go through a year when your birthday is in August or something. Every year does feel like a new year to me, because my birthday's in January. I'm always thinking, 2009 will be the year I'm sixteen, not the year-I'm-fifteen-half-the-time-and-then-sixteen-the-other-half.
Speaking of which, my sweet sixteen isn't going to be anything huge, but I'm going to invite a whole bunch of my friends over. Except one of my best friends, who moved. :( At first she thought she was just going on vacation, but her dad announced to her that she would be living there instead, so none of us got to say good-bye to her. I'm really going to miss her--I already do. I hope things are better for her up there, too, since things were kind of going downhill while she was living here. Maybe she can pick up some pieces. I can't go into detail, since this is the big bad internet after all. Can't disclose everything. That's what actual-journals-that-aren't-online are for.
My friend and I found this exchange journal that we had been writing in since freshman year, i.e. last year, along with our friend that moved. I love it so much. It looks so pretty with all the different handwritings, writing styles, and pictures that we draw in the corners of our entries. She wanted to write in it, so she wouldn't let me borrow it until next week, but in the meantime I get to keep her broken dog that sings "Deck the Halls" like something from the pits of hell. Don't ask. It's hilarious.
I'm going on a double date later, so that will be fun. Technically, it's a double date plus my boyfriend's best friend is coming along, so there will be an odd number of us. I hope that won't be awkward at all. Everybody going goes/went to my boyfriend's school, but I've met everyone before, so I guess it will be fine.
Ooh, I started playing Zelda and the Windwaker! Okay, yeah, we've had that game for like, three years, but I've never gotten this far before. I got to the part where Tetra is revealed to be Zelda, which...actually kind of sucked. I liked her better as a pirate. The outfit is ugly, and the fact that she has to be all "OMG-damsel-in-distress-I-can't-even-leave-the-effing-castle-cuz-it's-too-dangerous" person is really obnoxious. C'mon, Tetra, you used to be a pirate, for crying out loud! You can probably kick butt way better than Link can!
I'm also pretty enraged that the games are called Zelda when Link's the one doing all the crap. Do you know how many freaky warthogs I have defeated for you, Zelda? DO YOU?! Well, technically it was to rescue my sister, but that's beside the point...
I am still writing! Past 80,000 words and on chapter fourteen. In fact, my big new year's resolution is to finish my first draft. I think I can do it. Perserverance! Perserverance, I say!
Whoops, I almost forgot to mention the holy miracle that is Pushing Daisies! I am way too obsessed with that show. I watched the special features on the season one dvd until three in the morning last night. Isn't Ned just adorable? Isn't Olive just great? Isn't Emerson just awesome? Isn't Chuck just super? I even got to meet Field Cate (young Ned) at one point last month. He's so adorable, and a nice kid. I usually don't freak out when I meet celebrities, but when I spotted him I almost choked on my beef jerkey.
I'm off to wash my hair. See you, whoever you are.
