Manga and HHGTG

Firstly, I watched the "Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy" on Saturday and it was really good! Before I was a little afraid that it wouldn't do the book justice and all that, but they really managed to make a great movie out of it. There're so many parts that was just hilarious that I can't name them all. But to begin with: most parts with the guide, those idea-things on Vogosphere that smacked you when you got an idea, the point-of-veiw-gun used by Marvin... I certainly will buy it when it comes on DVD... I hope they make a extended edition, more fun for me!

Secondly, if you want to read a cute high-school/fantasy manga I can recommend "Alice 19th" by Yuu Watase. I borrowed the whole series from a friend last week and couldn't stop reading until I had finished the series.

Thirdly, the thing I really wanted to write about. My best friend went on a trip through Europe this summer and brought home manga. In German. Since it was about two years since she stopped taking german-classes, she wanted me to translate it into Swedish for her. Sure I said and started reading.

First time reading the manga, a short story called "Kaine. Endorphines - between life and death" by Kaori Yuki, my reaction was something like "Strange story, oh well." Then as I read it again and started translating it my reaction went more and more toward "Eww!!!". Since I had to understand the meaning of every single word and sentence, I went really deep into the context of manga.

The story is quite horrible, a guy wakes up in a hospital and is forced to play his twin brother, Kaine, who died in the same car-accident he survived. On and on he finds out more about his brother, who was the charismatic singer of a popular band called Endorphines, but Kaine wasn't the fantastic person from the stage but a mean person who can't keep promises.

The story deals with all the mean things Kaine did to his friends, but also with what happened to him in his childhood. I would really recommend it, but only if you can deal with things like sexual abusement. I have no idea if it has been translated into English, but I really hope so, because I want it.

Finally here is some art if you want to have a look. Fanart of Kaine, Dark God and Light Goddes
