I'm another Discussion Grouper, and if I am trusting now, it is because I got involved with an earlier fandom, that of the author, Dorothy Dunnett. Her readers corresponded via a round robin newsletter, in those pre-Internet days, and when Dorothy was finally persuaded to hold a meeting, I went with great trepidation. What I met were...not just ordinary, intelligent people...but soul-mates, friends to this day. So, as soon as I saw the last episode then out, I went hunting for the current equivalent of that old round robin newsletter. I knew Cher and Pepino and you and _alicesprings and renshaw and a host of other people were out there; I just had to find you. When I did, I wasn't afraid to meet you. Sure, part of that is the risk-taker in me, but part was experience. I think you'll find yourself becoming more open to new experiences as you build on good ones. I can't begin to describe how infinitely my life has been enriched by my willingness to trust. As a result, I've had a great life, an exciting, expansive life, and it's wonderful to be able to say that. FanSee
