Quitting smoking

Aug 03, 2006 10:41

So... yeah. I am now going on 72 hours of being smoke-free. It hasn't been quite as bad as people make it out to be, but it also hasn't been easy. The biggest thing is keeping yourself occupied with other things. If you can constantly keep busy, it would be super easy. For me, sitting in Iraq, that's not always so easy. I work at a computer all day, and my smoke breaks were also my "take it easy on the eyes" break from staring at a computer screen all day. It's bad enough that I play on a computer at home for hours, doing the same thing at work probably isn't so great for my eyes. Some people recommend you keep taking breaks. But how do you do that without going to the "break area", which is where all the smokers are? Being around other smokers is definitely not going to help me quit.

What has really sucked is my internet has been down at my room for the past two days. I had planned to spend all my off time playing WoW so I could just concentrate on that... but no such luck. It's really started to aggravate the hell out of me, I pay $65 a month for a crappy connection. I understand it's going to be slow. I understand there may be downtime, or times when we lose connection. But I don't understand having constant disconnects, or several consecutive days of it being down. If it is going to be down that much, send an email to all of your customers. You have my email address. If this keeps up, I might look at just cutting it off til I leave, but I just love being able to chat with the wife, see her on cam, or play WoW. *sighs*
