I came back from Peoria and I sort of disappeared off the map for the past few days when I was hit by the sudden realization that I had to study for my 1st cumulative final in 6 years. But now I'm back and let me recap the fun weekend before I forget everything.
Friday, work was the usual deal and then I went home to quickly change and head down to Peoria. The weather was great, but for some reason people still thought the blizzard from Thursday was lingering on, and I ended up getting in around 9:30. Kristi and I then hung out talking, listening to music and renewing old obsessions. I also got to see the painting she did for me, (*squeals with delight*) On Saturday while Kristi was at work, I think I spent a good 15 minutes just staring at it, in love... however I was an idiot and forgot to grab it before I left on Sunday.
Most of Saturday's chronicling of events can be found
here. But to add a few other things, in the morning I watched the first half of the 2nd series of Spaced, and Robert Englund's version of "Phantom of the Opera". the moral I gained from this, is when a friend warns you that a movie is gory, do not think about eating lunch while watching said movie, let alone actually do it.
Having just read the book a little less than a year and half-ago, I remembered most of what happened, and am very glad at the film adaptation of it. I thought the characterization was well done, and in fact I was able to sympathize more with Edmund's character in the movie than in the book. And may I just say this, I loved the animals in the movie, both real and imaginary, and I want that vial the White Witch had.
Aside from being true to the book, it was a good movie, and in the slew of un-interesting movies this past year has come out, it was refreshing to watch one. I also hope this would get more people reading the books. For those, for whatever reason were not planning on seeing it (book-purists, non-fantasy-fans, etc.) it's well worth it to just go and see it.
And they have very extensive credit rolls, didn't miss anyone.
On sunday, Kristi and I got some brunch at Le Peeps, which was a nice breakfast place (though crowded), and had smoothies and breakfast. (You can never go wrong with smoothies!) and then we went to the store fluff because we could (and I was on the look out for a new purse) It was such a girly store I loved it! There were so many different purses and accessories that I think I could've bought one for every day of the week! I ended up getting a blue purse, and some earrings and a necklace, and Kristi found a watch and a cute multi-colored purse. We then came back and watched the remaining episodes of Spaced 2nd series and the commentary until I had to go. We said our good-byes and I was on my way.
Around 2 hours into the drive back, just was I was getting onto 355, I realized that I had forgotten the painting. (the people in the cars around me probably heard someone screaming expletives, that would be me). If it had been 1 hour, I probably would've gone back and get it (I contemplated it for a minute, but I wasn't sure if A) Kristi would be there even if I did, B) I would end up not getting home till mid-night. So I felt a lot of remorse.
But aside from my stint of forgetfulness it was a lovely visit with loads of fun, and much incentive for Peoria.
On other news, Monday was spent with me trying to wrap my head around Bonds and Stocks, and on Tuesday a group of us from accounting got together to study for the exam, and yesterday I took the exam. I felt pretty good about it.
Which now brings me to today.
