Got Google? More drivel from an exhausted mind

Jan 21, 2006 01:05

So I decided tonight to Google myself and see what came up.

In terms of cites related to me here are the results:

Unique Link #1 (Listing Numbers 1 & 2): On the Lui Collins (who is CT based folksinger) website I am listed in two places as part of the Chorus of 6 on the song Maisha Ni Safi. And yes I am the same Katrina listed. The 1st and only time I have ever been recorded in a sound studio and had my voice placed on a commercially marketed CD. Very cool experience. Of course I was in... I dunno 6th grade? Still it was a great time. Hard to beat number 1.

Unique Link #2 (Listing Number 3): The official Website of the New England Patriots.
Muahaha! Yes. This is also a legit sighting (siting? Ok bad pun). And yes I did write in Patriots football weekly this year to bitch and moan about Duane Starks and his HORRENDOUSNESS! (COUGHS dumpsterfullofgrimeyhell COUGHS) To quote my rant about Starks "Is there some reason I'm missing why Ellis Hobbs isn't in for Starks?" Reply from Tom Casale the "Ask Patriots Football Weekly" head columnist. "Well Katrina, the problem with starting Hobbs is he is a rookie. You think Starks is getting beat? Put a rookie in this defense and teams may start scoring 50 points a game on the Patriots... Believe me, if Hobbs was starting you would be on your knees begging for Starks to get back in there." Ahem. I would just like to point out the ELLIS HOBBS started the last 8 games of the season at Cornerback for the Pats and did a damn fine job of it. I love being right. Anyway. Yes. So number three on the google list is also a winner.

Unique Link # 3 (Listings 4 & 5): Are both about a Col. DeGraff who was the representative of the Hurricane Katrina Task Force in New Orleans. Related? Who knows. Its perfectly understandable, although underwhelming, to find these links on a search for my name. Still - 4&5 could be better.

Unique Link # 4 (Listing 6): Apparently in Indiana there is another Katrina Degraff who is running an Alzheimer's Support Group. Now this is a cool link not only because I like to hear about other Katrina's but because we have the exact same name. Amazing! Now if my name were Joe Smith or something like that I might be more used to the idea of there being others who share both first and last name. But this clearly is unusual for someone with less popular or unusual first and last names. I give number 6 the thumbs up and also feel a pang of guilt. If this Katrina is leading an Alzheimer's Support Group then she is probably giving back a lot more to the community and world at large than I am right now - Yet this is her only Google listing. She deserves to be recognized a lot more than I do. Therefore in keeping with the Organizational Behavior's justice and inequity theories I have two options. Either recognize this other Katrina for her contributions and level things out or two increase my own activities in an effort to give something back. Hopefully both will occur. Damnit Im gonna write her a letter. And then Im going to train my new dog (dont have it yet but soon) as a therapy dog and bring him around to hospitals and nursing homes. I planned on that anyway though so maybe I still need more... One step at a time though, gotta start somewhere.

Unique Link #5 (Listing 7): The fifth and final link is a listing for my Kentucky Derby 131 Fantasy Stable. For those of you who might not know I am an avid horse racing fan, although I must admit I am slightly disillusioned right now due to the retirement of Afleet Alex who I had hoped to see race a 4 and possibly 5 year old. Anyway, 2005 was a good year for my fantasy stable which is run similar to a fantasy football roster. You select horses from all potential runners the same a you would select players for any other fantasy sport but instead of competing in a league you compete against every other fantasy stable in the USA or the world I guess. Out of some 20,000 people my final ranking came in at around 150 and I was in the top 5 or so for people from CT if I remember correctly. That puts me in the top 1% or something like that. Too bad they only give prizes to the top 10. Its also too bad this doesn't translate to wagering earnings. Oh well, maybe next year.

Also a a side note... there is a place in Ohio named DeGraff. I have a great picture of my aunt and uncle standing next to the town's welcome sign. Apparently the people in the town were just a thrilled to meet someone with the last name as my aunt and uncle were to find the town. I think they even were introduced to the mayor once word got out there were two DeGraffs in town. Two bad there aren't any rich lonely exiled distant relatives living there who are looking for a young DeGraff to sponser all the way to a PhD. Still, Nickie and Paris might have a whole slew of Hotels, but I got a town. Beat that mo fos!

(For those of you wondering why the hell I bothered to write this... I honestly have no idea. It seemed like a good idea at the time I guess. Oh well. Pardon my semi crazed and school battered brain. Between classes and moving in a week I dont have much brainpower left to devote to LJ).
