Why my co-workers are great
This is what we talk about while working.

Co-Worker: Occupy Dallas movement has effectively been put to an end as a result of police evicting the protestors over night.
Co-worker: They were in violation of an ordinance saying that no one can sleep in city parks/property overnight
Me: heh
Co-Worker: 's response: What about all the zombies that sleep in parks?
Me: technically they aren't alive so they don't have to follow human laws
Co-worker: also, they're not human
Me: they used to be
Me: but yeah, it's like deer, dogs, raccoons sleeping in parks
Co-worker: if you're going to use that argument, then they used to be alive
Me: well...without a doubt they are dead now. But for the human part - when do you stop being a human? Are vampires human or not? Werewolves? Were-anything for that matter?
Me: Not that I'm disputing you, but you know that an organization such as PETA will pop up arguing a zombie's humanity.
Co-worker: well, until PETZ (people for the ethical treatment of zombies) proves otherwise, I see that vpires, were-creaturs and zombies are definitely not human anymore, as they would have suffered a change to their DNA structure that would cause them to no longer be classified as humans.
Me: Hmm. So, then, once we begin star travel, and begin finding humanoids in other galaxies, which laws will and will not apply to them? Any laws applying to humans? Or any law applying to sentient creatures?
Me: Which then brings up - are zombies sentient?
Co-worker: i would say No to zombies being sentient...they're not different than animals, guided solely by instinct.
Co-worker: as for humanoids on other planets....their laws apply when on their planet.
Me: And our laws apply while on our planet.
Me: fair enough.
Co-worker: as for inter-galaxy laws. we'll have to wait for the Vulcans to reveal themselves to us so that we can create the Prime Directive together
Me: I think we need to send this to our congressfolk, for future implementation.
Co-worker: we should
