wee hour pre-interview nervousness

I'm up way past a reasonable bedtime, cramming for my phone interview with Senator Sheila Kuehl at noon by reading up on some of her bills that queers would want to hear more about (SB 840, SB 300, and SB 973 for those who follow legislative issues). Congrats! I'm sure you will do great!

BTW, I met a tg but bio-male veteran acquaintance the other day who is wanting hormones, etc, and wanted to know if the VA would help him. Any info you might have would be appreciated. Thanks!

Here's the VA route, in a nutshell; it shouldn't have changed much in the last few years:

1. Have a VA card (i.e., be eligible for VA services)
2. VA therapy, resulting in a Gender Identity Disorder (GID) diagnosis
3. Psych refers back to your (VA) primary medical person
4. Referral to endocrinology for hormones

The VA does not cover "cosmetic" surgeries.

I also recommend contacting TAVA (tavausa.org), who are involved in these issues; I'm not a member or affiliated in any way but they have been knowledgeable in the past.
