I went to orchestra last night.  It was really nice to play with a group again - it's been over two years since I've done so.  The rest of the orchestra seems pretty good, and there are more people in it than I thought there would be, and than I think Jim thought there would be.  I'm not entirely pleased with seating, but I'm not taking it for

I can't believe you don't like Barber's Adagio. Maybe it's because of the immense amount of time and analysis I've done of the piece in theory... but I love it. it's just so beautiful and solemn, and it makes me cry. Done well I find it entrancing. Done poorly it is just plain painful though, and not in a good way.

Oh, it is beautiful! I listened to last night, and definitely agree! Hopefully we'll be able to do it justice. I just don't like it because I don't have the patience to count like crazy and sit there and play an F natural for 16 beats.
