Kimono night update

Last night rocked my socks...or, tabi, more like :p

Since it's currently finals period, a very stressful time for all students, I took a bit of time off from the craziness and threw on a kimono ensemble. It was a brown komon with wide gradated tan stripes and blue floral motif. I was gonna wear my black and tan striped komon that I just got recently, but I totally forgot I had it *facepalm* Oh well. Anywho, I wore said komon with my beloved black nagoya obi with the pirate ship motif, light blue obiage and obijime, and white/red zori.

Anthony and I met up with Naomi ( harunoame )and Arian ( arian1 ) in Japan Town. Naomi wore a very chic ensemble that consists of an indigo kasuri kimono and bright pink obi. The design on said kimono looked like a nifty star/quasar pattern - Naomi, wouldn't it be cool if you got an obi with a full moon motif and a rocket ship obidome? :D.

Naomi also showed me her new book on very inspirational taisho kimono fashion, and she showed me her new, beautiful black obi with a frog and rabbit design on it. Then we had dinner at one of the local restaurants, then had some cocktails at Festa Karaoke Bar, where Arian busted out a fab rendition of Piano Man. He was also very sweet enough to buy Anthony and me drinks (I owe you next time, bean). We then headed across the plaza to a bar ran by a group of cute and sweet gals, who were ecstatic to see Naomi and me in kimono. There, I had my first try of sugar cane plum wine, which was divine. It's a shame that such a good wine is underrated. Naomi and I spent most of the time geeking out over kimono with the bartenders, took pictures and watched a lot of music videos of The Police, some Japanese hair bands and some rap videos dubbed into Japanese. At the end, we parted ways, and Anthony and I headed back the the apartment, where we kicked back to some good ol' pipe tobacco while listening to the Bloodhound Gang's "Ralph Wiggum".

Yay!
