I am writing a new Bleach one-shot story. Of course, it's about Ichiruki, my OTP. So I've decided to visit
fanfiction.net. So many things have changed! I can now connect through Twitter and Facebook. It didn't excite me, though. I prefer the older version.
I've been reading anime fanfictions in that website since 2000. I've been a member since 2005. That is where I started to learn how to write fanfictions. I've published some stories there, mainly Harry Potter and Bleach. As I reread my stories, particularly, that Ron/Hermione series I've created way back in 2003 but just published it in 2005, I laughed at it. The title is Loving you twice. It is a series and my second fanfiction. (And my first EVER story is a fucking series as well! Nice job! LOL!)
The story is an epitome of a story with so much fucking grammatical errors! LOL! I can't make that "I was only 14 when I wrote it" excuse because there are so many 14-year-old writers with perfect grammar. Okay, maybe English is not my first language? Excuse somehow accepted. The story was really great! I mean, Ron died and he left a grieving Hermione, who failed to tell Ron how much she loved him. Then after three years, a carbon-copy of Ron suddenly appeared. His name is Patrick. Then Hermione and Patrick fell in love with each other again then they found out that Patrick is Ron. Hence the title, Loving you twice. See? Did you see how great my story was? However, the grammar!!! Oh my gawd! It's a perfect story but badly-written! When I was conceptualizing that story, I even cried!
And this is the other catch. It was a series, right? When I was about to upload the last chapter, my computer said goodbye. So I failed to update it. My poor readers would never know the ending. >_<
Anyway, did I mention that the story has 63 reviews and seven favorites?! Yes, somehow people understood what I was trying to say. LOL! But I sincerely thank them!
While reading it and covering my face with so much shame because of the grammar, somewhere in my mind was like, "Why don't you re-write it and correct the grammar?"
However, I shook my head and smiled to myself. (FUCK! It's like I'm writing a fanfiction! Hahahahaha!) I realized, the one who wrote Loving you twice (as well as Unnoticed) was me, a very young me, trying to share the story in my head, put it into words then publish it. It was me when I was just starting. And reading it makes me feel proud because I've seen how much I have improved. Those stories I published back in 2005 were my babies. I will never edit them, no matter how wrong my grammar was.
Fanfiction.net is where I learned how important a simple comment is to a writer. As I've explained in my post in one of the chapters of "The Perfect Disaster," I am a review-whore because I grew up in FF.net. I love giving comments as well because I know that it will give the writer courage to write more. It encourages them.
I posted my first Bleach story (To Byakuya, To Ichigo, To Toushirou) way back in 2007. It was a one-shot Ichiruki. My grammar improved a lot compared to my previous Harry Potter stories. You know what? Despite being published five years ago, Ichiruki fans are still able to find it. I still receive reviews and people still include it in their favorite list. I am really touched every time I see emails from FF.net that I have received a new review or someone "favorited" my story.
For me, every fangirl is a writer. The writing skill is just waiting to be awakened. Every fangirl has ideas for fanfictions. However, they are afraid to write about it. I hope they could get the courage to sit down, face their laptops or get their pens and papers then start writing. There are a lot of fans there, waiting for these stories.
FF.net (as well as
asianfanfics.com I guess) is the best training ground for young and aspiring novel writers or just plain writers. Get the courage to write. You will lose nothing. For me, in a fangirl's perspective, writing is all about sharing your ideas to your fellow fans or readers. That is why I will continue writing fanfictions, whether an Ichiruki or a Romione or a Hahyo couple or a Henber story, it doesn't matter. I know my fellow fans are sharing it to others.
Just always remember, write to express, not to impress. And never plagiarize. ^^
