Hello, my fellow Minwoo minions~! ^^ Happy Christmas~! ^3^ This is one of my three Christmas gifts for you, guys. This is my Christmas-themed Minwoo fanfic.

I'm posting this to my LiveJournal account because I miss my LJ~! No particular reason at all, actually. And I tried to write in a present tense format so I think my grammar messed up than the usual. LOL! (It's really hard! orz)

By the way, mamoru is a Japanese word (and usually a boy's name) which means "protect." ^_^

Please enjoy and spread the Minwoo and Winner love~!

==========

The people around the park are looking at a seven-year-old boy who is crying his heart out as a nine-year-old boy tries to console him.

"Santa… Santa… Santa is not true?!" the younger boy shouts. Some women chuckle as they find the boy and his question very cute.

"My dad said but maybe I was a naughty boy that's why I didn't get a present. Santa exists, Mino-yah. He is true. Please stop crying," the older boy comforts him.

"But… but… you are never a naughty boy, Jinwoo-hyung! You are always nice!" Then the young boy cries loudly again.

"SANTA IS NOT TRUE!"

==========

Song Minho has always been a crybaby. Some kids don't want him to play with him because more often than not, he ends up crying. However, whenever those kids try to isolate him, his favorite friend, Kim Jinwoo, convinces them to let Mino join them.

Or else, Jinwoo will not play with those kids, too. As the oldest in the group, the kids in their village always want Jinwoo as their playmate. He is a fast runner, a patient kid, and a very cheerful young child who makes everyone smile.

Mino looks up to his Jinwoo-hyung and he always wants to do things together with him.

This year's Christmas is extra special for Mino as Jinwoo agrees to his plan: to sing Christmas carols around their neighborhood.

So far, so good for the two young boys. However, as they approach a big house, Jinwoo stops Mino from going further.

Mino looks at his hyung confusingly.

"What is wrong, Jinwoo-hyung?" the young kid asks.

"We should not go there," Jinwoo answers.

Mino's expression changes to curiosity. "Why?"

Jinwoo looks around before he bends down to whisper, "That is the house of the devil."

Mino gasps and gets scared. He looks at the house. A young family is living there. However, one of its residents is famous in the neighborhood: Yang Hyunsuk. He is a really scary teenager. He doesn't talk to people he doesn't like. He destroys properties that don't belong to his family. Hyunsuk's parents are kind so as his brother and they have been apologizing for Hyunsuk's bad behavior.

"But I don't think he is bad anymore, hyung! People change and I think he has changed, too!" Mino beams at Jinwoo.

"I don't know about that, Mino-yah," Jinwoo replies.

"I really want to try, hyung!" Mino tries to convince Jinwoo.

"Are you sure?" his Jinwoo-hyung asks him. He nods.

Jinwoo leads his way to the house. The older guy clicks the intercom. Mino knows Jinwoo flinched when they saw the devil.

"Uhm… Merry Christmas!" Jinwoo says brightly as he signals Mino to start singing.

After singing Sleigh Ride and Jingle Bells, the gate opens. However, the two boys are welcomed by two big black dogs.

"Merry Christmas!" Hyunsuk smirks.

"Mino-yah, d-don't be scared. T-They won't b-bite u-us. W-When I say r-run, you r-run as f-fast as y-you can, okay?" Jinwoo instructs him.

Mino doesn't understand why his Jinwoo-hyung's voice is shaking but he nods anyway.

"On the count of three… one… two… three… RUN!"

Mino runs as fast as he could as he hears the dogs bark. When the barking fades, he looks behind him, only to see Jinwoo is down on his knees and the dogs are almost near him.

"Jinwoo-hyung!" Mino shouts and runs towards his hyung.

Fortunately, a teenager stops the dogs from attacking his Jinwoo-hyung. Mino stops in front of Jinwoo and bends down to see him. Jinwoo's right knee is bleeding and it scares Mino. He hates blood.

"Are you okay?" the teenager asks them.

Right there, Mino starts to cry loudly again.

"Jinwoo-hyung! I'm so sorry!" Mino cries.

The teenager helps Jinwoo to stand. The wounded boy pats Mino's head.

"Hyung is okay, Mino-yah. Stop crying," Jinwoo tells him.

==========

Mino is still crying loudly as the teenager named Minsuk opens the door of their house. He glares at his brother, Hyunsuk and threatens him with "I'm going to tell this to mom." before the older teenager retreats to his room, stomping his feet.

Minsuk leaves Mino and Jinwoo at the living room.

"Mino-yah, stop crying, please?" Jinwoo pleads him but he just cries louder.

"This… is… my… fault... I… should… have… listened… to… you… I… am… sorry… hyung… I… left… you…" Mino sobs in every word he says.

"It is not your fault, Mino-yah," Jinwoo pats his head.

"You're still crying, kid?" Minsuk is back and holding a first aid kit. He takes out the antiseptic and a ball of cotton. He puts some amount of antiseptic on the cotton and damps it on Jinwoo's wound.

"Ouch!" Jinwoo whined. He closes his eyes and tries not to think of the pain. But it is really painful.

What makes Jinwoo's tears stop from falling is Mino's loud cries.

"Jinwoo-hyung…" Mino sobs. With every Jinwoo's ouch is Mino's loud weeps.

"Mino-yah~" Jinwoo says as he tries to console the crying boy.

Minsuk laughs. "You know what, kid? If you don't stop crying, your hyung will start crying too and his wound will be more painful."

Mino suddenly stops crying. "Is that true, Jinwoo-hyung?"

Jinwoo nods.

Sniffing as he wipes his tears, Mino tries to act brave as he lets out quiet sobs. He closes his eyes whenever Jinwoo says ouch and whispers I'm sorry.

==========

Mino looks at his limping hyung as they walk back to their houses. He feels very guilty. His Jinwoo-hyung was almost eaten by dogs. His hyung might not want to play with him anymore. He doesn’t want that to happen. Jinwoo is Mino's favorite friend.

"You did a great job when you stopped crying a while ago, Mino-yah," he heard the older guy say. He looks at him and Jinwoo is smiling at him.

"I don't want you to cry, hyung," Mino pouts then he stops walking, making Jinwoo stop as well.

"Jinwoo-hyung," Mino says as he looks at his confused hyung. He also looks at the bandage on Jinwoo's knee. Mino fights the urge to cry again.

"I promise that starting today, I will always protect you. I will be your soldier. Just don't stop playing with me," Mino tells his favorite friend.

Jinwoo laughs but nods.

==========

Fifteen years has passed and Mino still holds his promise to Jinwoo. And he is not breaking his promise even if Jinwoo finds his overprotective attitude a bit annoying.

Because Jinwoo is no longer Mino's favorite friend. He no longer sees Jinwoo as his friend. He wants to protect him all his life, with all his life: Like a bodyguard to his celebrity boss; Like a knight to a princess; Like a husband to his wife.

"Mino-yah, I need to open this door," Jinwoo tells him and he knows the older guy is annoyed. They are at a Christmas party thrown by a friend from high school.

"But Jinwoo-hyung, I heard Taehyun and Seunghoon-hyung whispering something about this door. And Seungyoon avoids this door so much," Mino says as he holds on the doorknob, stopping Jinwoo from opening it.

"My goodness, Mino-yah. You weren't annoying when we were kids even if you cry 24/7. Can you just cry?" Jinwoo slaps his hand and opens the door.

"But hyung! Argh! You are more annoying!" Mino complains and he walks beside Jinwoo and enters the room with him.

"Do you see what I see?" Lee Seunghoon, the party host, chants. Then Mino hears giggling around them. He looks at Jinwoo who is as confused as he is.

Then he hears them shouting, "Mistletoe! Mistletoe! Mistletoe!"

Mino looks above his head and sees the mistletoe. He looks at Jinwoo who is looking at mistletoe.

Then their eyes meet.

"Well… traditions… this should be done-" Mino utters but is cut off when Jinwoo pulls him by his collar and kisses him.

Mino's head is spinning. It is his dream, to kiss and be kissed by Jinwoo. He has to convince himself that he is not dreaming. But by the time he is sure that he is not dreaming and he is about to kiss Jinwoo, the older guy breaks the kiss. Mino looks at Jinwoo and notices his crimson red face. But his hyung is pouting. His eyes are filled with tears.

Jinwoo looks brokenhearted and it confuses Mino.

What happened?

"You're wrong," Jinwoo tells Seunghoon quietly as he walks away from him. Seunghoon glares at him.

Chuckling, Mino nods as he got the message behind Seunghoon's glare.

Mino pulls Jinwoo back by holding his wrist and turning him around to face him.

Back under the mistletoe, Mino whispers, "Seunghoon-hyung is right."

Then Mino kisses Jinwoo.

The kiss is gentle yet long as Mino tries to convey his sincere feelings for Jinwoo, whom he promises to protect since he was seven.

And his Jinwoo-hyung is clearly expressing the same feeling towards him as well.

They are about to put the kiss deeper when Seunghoon shouts, "Get a room!"

Blushing, Mino presses his forehead against Jinwoo's.

"Merry Christmas, Jinwoo-hyung. This is the best Christmas gift ever," Mino tells him.

"Merry Christmas, too, my soldier Mino," Jinwoo smiles.
