what we've been eating

i've a confession to make.

i haven't touched a bit of meat for two weeks now. some fish from time to time, an egg or two here and there... but not a whit of meat. it's why i had to take up cooking again, so i wouldn't have to eat meat if there was nothing else to eat in the building where i work. and in a culinary culture where meat is, well, part of the culture, it's hard really, to find some healthier alternatives.

i must say i do have my cravings. there are times when i would want nothing more than to tuck into a pastrami sandwich, or a liempo... but well, meat has just way too much stuff in it, not to mention the remnant of whatever violence was used to kill the animal that gave it to you.

i'm not saying that i'm gonna be a full-on vegan or anything like that. but i think it's high time that i be conscious of what i use to fuel this body. i mean, heck, it's served me well so far, why repay all the years of good service by fuelling it with chemical-rich processed crap?

and like i said earlier, cooking is fun. it's a way to be creative while being aware of what you put in your body. :)
