OMG! -That is what my daughter would have said.
Why, am I religious all of a sudden? In fact, I'm not. Not that much at least. But I suddenly realized that my hair reaches way down my back, and it feels like it came overnight.
I know that it didn't, I've been thinking about going to a hairdresser a couple of times during the years, but since I was able to tie it up in a horsetail it hasn't felt that urgent. I cannot remember the last time I had a haircut, but I know that after a couple of months I thought about doing it after the vacation. I guess something got in the way.
Truth is also, I felt a little rebellion inside when I noticed that I had broken a record. I'm born -58 and until now have never had longer hair than half my ears, I was never allowed to, and when I got mature...I was assimilated.
In the beginning of my long hair career the biggest advantage was that people were afraid of me. At that time I probably looked like a demotorized Hells Angels-wannabee, and people often took sidesteps around me. That fitted me perfect, a sole country-boy in the crowded city as I am.
I also noticed that by some magic means my dandruff got on the defense, my frequent routine of brushing my hair, my jacket and vacuum cleaning the bathroom floor suddenly wasn't necessary that much anymore. I better not think about this phenomena anymore, or I will have to keep my long hair for the rest of my life.
Nowadays my parents have gotten used to my new "girlie-look", as they call it, and has finally accepted that I'm their son but not their child anymore. And since I keep it in a horsetail, my HA-look has gone -I'm thinking of a beard to keep people off my toes;-)
But the great experience of how long it has gotten, It's amazing when you suddenly feel it!
And by the way: The ladies seems to like a man that sticks out from the crowd. Just like our latest minister of finance. I don't know if he's a ladies man, but his hairdo is noticed, and he is much younger than me!
