has an important but perhaps non-obvious implication:

The more you learn the more you realize the less others know.

It doesn't take too many books in a particular direction to suddenly outstrip the level of background of everybody readily available for conversation on a topic. All too often the erstwhile sage has gaps in understandings and is missing bits of the patterns. Of course, explaining things clearly without leaning too heavily assumed constructs has value, but often is frustrating as regards stumbling upon new insights.
