Family Ties
Watched another beautifully crafted and under-rated movie called AROUND THE BEND on DVD. It stars the ever stylo CHRISTOPHER WALKEN, boyish JOSH LUCAS, supported by classic MICHAEL CAINE and a cute little child actor JONAH BOBO.
Tight storyline about family ties and forgiveness based on a roadtrip planned by the patriach - Michael Caine in his will and it was his last wish for the remaining 3 generations of the LAIRS (thats their family name) to come on what he called "OUR LAST DIG" which is basically coming one full circle digging up the past and burying it with FORGIVENESS.
It clearly made me wonder if that will happen to me. Whether I can ever forgive my father, my bro, my mum. I know we do not choose our blood, I know we have to accept them for who they are.
However, in this transient life that I live, I reall do not have a clue if this is what I was meant to be. I try not to hate, I try not to rage but the demons in me will not be vanquished.
Will I ever find peace within, will I ever live to savour that calmness. In the next few years it will be all the more clearer as I raced this final lap to cut off the final ball and chain.
I am trying to find the VOICE and the STRENGTH to summon enough COURAGE to no longer COWER in HIS presence. If ever he was a royalty, I would be the weakest link in his bloodline.
I need to stand tall in face of the onslaught, I need to dig in and stand my ground as it is the only sacred plot of my sanity.................
