I made this scarf for one of my roommates as a Christmas gift.
It is navy blue and white, which are the team colours of Tottenham Hotspur, the soccer team my roommate likes the best. I used another soccer scarf as a reference to get the size right.
This picture shows the colours better.
This is the first striped scarf I have made, and I found it was easiest to keep the stripes uniform by writing down how many rows I'd done. Knowing how many more rows I had to knit made the work go by faster and kept me motivated, too. I think I could properly use a pattern now, since keeping track of rows has made me understand more about how the yarn holds itself together. I have also decided I like 100% wool yarn better than acrylic stuff. It is so much easier to knit with, and doesn't stretch. It makes a more solid scarf in the end.
This is how I kept track of the rows.
This one even has short white tassels on the ends, just like the real thing! (To get these tassels the right size, I wound the yarn around a television remote. I sense a pattern here...)
Yay tassels!
The scarf in its natural habitat - hanging out with other scarves and a long brown coat.
