The Royal show and the laws of thermodynamics.

Sooo me and Helen went to the Royal show here in perth yesterday. It was pretty fun. Very packed but fun. It's an agricultural show so there were plenty of cats, dogs, bunnies and cute fluffy things to give Helen a small fit. There were stalls for all kinds of things and in one of the pavilions I managed to score some zebra style contacts (which I've wanted for a while) and walk past the Scientology tent wearing my "Xenu is my Homeboy" t-shirt which earned me a few averted gazes.

However the highlight for me was "Inventors corner". I saw the sign from a ways back and made a side comment to Helen along the lines of "I wonder how many things here violate the laws of physics.

And lo and behold one of the bigger displays in the cabinet... BEHOLD! The Gravmag Motor!!

Guess what? It's a wheel that uses the power of gravity and a swinging arm to pull down on the arm on one stroke, then the arm pulls in and it spins round easier then extends again for the next down stroke. Oh the joy! Imagine it, as the accompanying paper claims in a shakey scrawl, Free energy for all! No pollution!. If only those basterds at the university would stop holding him back and poo-pooing his invention. They're afraid! Afraid!! he tells us. In fear of his invention which is why they tell everyone it couldn't possibly work!

His qualifications? 40 years as an "Amature physicist", and you would know if you came to his home and saw "my large collection of "Scientific American", "New Scientist" and "American Science" going back many years".

He's sure this will work on the large scale. Of course so far he hasn't been able to make it work. Unfortunatly, it keeps comming to a stop for some reason but he puts this down to not being able to afford good enough quality magnets to make it go yet.

So if any of you out there are interested in this ground breaking technology drop me a message and I'll be happy to put you in contact with his e-mail form the package. Or you could petition those pesky physics professors at the university to give him a chance!

Think of the children!

Also there was good candy at the show.
