Well dammit

*sigh* Rather typically I managed to damage my shoulder pretty badly last week while doing some Parkour. I was crossing an outdoor ampetheatre where there was a perfect concrete stage -> grassy area so I decided to do a forward sommersault off the stage down to the grass.

What I didn't see was the dead leaves on the edge of the stage area and as I planted to go into the flip my foot slipped and I went horitontal and dropped the 4 feet from the edge at a head first 45 degree angle. I managed to twist sligtly so that instead of giving the ground a glaswegian kiss I planted my shoulder pretty solidly into the dirt.

Got up, said "ow" and "got back on the horse" as it were and did the flip again. (making it this time) However my arm was pretty sore but I just assumed I'd bruised it a little. I iced it when I got home and stayed off it till the following weekend when I went to the gymnasium to practice my handsprings etc.

After an hour of training my shoulder started hurting pretty bad and was starting to give way (which I've not had before) so I stopped and yesterday went to a sports Physio.

Apparently I've hyperextended my AC joint tendon and my subclavacular tendon. Nothing hugely serious but apparently I have to keep my arm bound up and do _nothing_ for 6 weeks. I suspect I'm going to spend a lot of time sitting in front of the TV watching parkour videos and getting tetchy that I can't be out doing it.

Still 3 good things out of all of this

1) I managed to pull off my first reliable set of standing backflips at the gym on Sunday, yay me.

2) It'll give me time to study for my Industry exam that I should have done months ago.

3) I'll be healed up in time for getting to France so I can still practise in the birthplace of Pakour. Hurrah.

In relation to that Helen and myself have bought our plane tickets for our europe trip. We will be flying from Perth -> singapore -> Qatar (a small middle eastern kingdon) and we will spend a day in Qatar... then Qatar -> London.

We're expecting to spend a week in England visiting relatives then buy a van and drive through to Europe and spend the next 6 weeks driving round France seeing the sights.

Then back to England, dump the van and fly to Turkey for 2 weeks of a hop on hop off bus tour round Istanbul, Troy and other exciting places.

Should be a great trip.

Anyway... really long post from me so I should stop lest people think I'm starting to actually post on LJ again. :)
