Yeah, Fakir, you're totally one to call Mytho a jerk.

If I remember that scene's context right, I've always thought that he's laughing on the inside about Mytho being mean to Rue. XD

Hey, it looks like Mytho is reading Prinz und Rabe when Ahiru goes to talk to him.

Yep, it sure is. I've always wondered why Fakir instructs Mytho to only read the books he gives him, then actually gives him the story he's from. Isn't he afraid of Mytho remembering stuff from the story? Unless Rue gave him the book, or something.

I think Ahiru's the only person on the main cast to regularly have normal reactions to things. Odd, considering what a spaz she is.

I think it's because she comes from outside the town. This is her first experience with being in a fairytale, and the other characters have lived there all their lives...
(Then again, other characters that come from outside of the story seem only vaguely confused by things that are fairytale-ish. Hm.)

When did Ahiru learn the story of Hansel and Gretel, anyway?

She knows about a lot of human things that she shouldn't--I think it's just part about being brought into the story as a girl. I mean, she has enough fake memories that she doesn't even realize she ISN'T a girl until the second episode.

"LOOK AT THIS FACE. I HATE THIS FACE AND ITS FEELINGS." Fakir is fucking scary.

Yeah, that's the scene where Fakir goes from being "grumpy and a bit too controlling" to "abusive boyfriend material". XD Seriously though, that's...really emotional abuse. He's lucky Mytho can hardly feel anything.

I wonder if the library here has a a system of tunnels underneath it.

That'd be the coolest library EVER.

Yeah, probably. It's still ironic, though. xD And it's a little weird to think about Fakir having a sense of humor, really. I was trying, earlier, to remember whether he ever actually laughs, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't. There might be a derisive snort somewhere in there, but I think that's it.

Ah, I thought so. And that's true. It was kind of bothering me, too xD. Then again, IIRC, later Fakir tells Ahiru that he used to read that story to Mytho. I'm really not sure why he was doing that. Maybe it's because Fakir has such an attachment to the story himself that he wants to share it, and since he knew Mytho was heartless he figured it wouldn't make a difference? I don't know. xD

That makes sense. And for the last part ... well, Ahiru was actually a duck before she came to Kinkan, so maybe that makes her more of an outsider, or something. It could also just be another facet of Ahiru's hyper-sensitivity to things connected to Drosselmeyer's story. She notices pretty much everything that seems out of place. And also, I guess since she's the protagonist she's allowed to voice things for the audience now and then.

She knows about a lot of human things that she shouldn't--I think it's just part about being brought into the story as a girl. I mean, she has enough fake memories that she doesn't even realize she ISN'T a girl until the second episode.

Yeah. It makes me wonder what other memories Drosselmeyer might have given her. Can she remember being a little girl? Probably not, I think, but it's still interesting to think about the human things she knows and contrast them with the things she doesn't. Drosselmeyer probably didn't give her memories about Prinz und Rabe, even though everybody else in Kinkan knows about it, specifically so she could learn about it in his story, etc.

I think he got a little too used to being allowed to be so controlling and abusive, honestly. xD Later, when he hits Mytho, he's kind of surprised at himself for a moment, like he finally realizes he's been going too far. And then later when Ahiru is resistant to his method of protection, he's kind of at a loss. xD

That'd be the coolest library EVER.

I wish I could visit Kinkan. It'd just be so insanely cool.

I think I looked, and the only time he laughs is as a little kid. I think that's right. (Although now that I think of it, I can't remember when he DOES laugh...I just feel like he did at some point during his kid flashbacks. But it might've been more of an awed gasp...?) He DOES sort of make a smug snort when Autor calls Uzura and Ahiru "unrelated" to Drosselmeyer, but it's not quite a laugh.

Maybe it's because Fakir has such an attachment to the story himself that he wants to share it, and since he knew Mytho was heartless he figured it wouldn't make a difference?

Maybe...I guess he figures at this point that since he read it to him as a kid, there's no sense in keeping it from him now. But then why limit his reading at all? What is Fakir afraid he'll find if he reads everything?

And also, I guess since she's the protagonist she's allowed to voice things for the audience now and then.

Oooh, good point. So she's sort of an audience surrogate? (Also, the other stuff you said there makes sense, too.)

Me, too. I want to go to the town it's based on someday. The pictures look amazing.

I can see that. I don't remember whether it actually happened, but it would make sense. In any case, I am now on the lookout for laughter from Fakir. xD

Yeah, maybe he figures the damage is already done, or something. And I don't know; maybe it's just part of how Fakir got carried away in trying to protect Mytho. Maybe he's afraid that if Mytho reads a tragedy, he'll go looking for the characters so he can save them. xD

Well, yeah, I guess. She's an opportunity for other characters to give exposition. The same kind of thing happens later when Fakir needs Autor to explain stuff to him. xD

Awesome! XD You'll have to tell us if you see any!

...That would be an awesome fanfic. XD

That makes sense! The need to have some sort of newbie so everything could be laid out for you.
