a Lady..

I was about seventeen when i first met her..
She was young, but not foolish
She was old, but only in a timeless sence of wisdom
She was small.. but with a lions roar and strength of life and vitality.. that was.. extraordinary.

not once did i ever see her act with selfishness or without compassion.
even when she was mad, she had a sence of purpose and life that is indescribable.

i remember going to my first larp event, some hollowed out warehouse, in my lack of sence, i not only forgot a pillow, but also enougth food to last the event..
Steph thumped me over the head with one of her spare pillows and introduced herself as a friend of my big sis, hellen..
she gave me some food, and chatted with me, and made me feel so welcome to the event, not only out of charicter, but also in charicter, in which she gave me some great hooks to roleplay with..

i remember her teaching me how to properly "drow up" with lucy and jo, slapping on the black facepaint and then squeezing your eyes tight and holding your breath as we sprayed spray on haircolour at each others faces, and white on our hair.

i remember going to the waterfront club during winter, it started snowing outside before the night was over, and she stuffed me into her car and let me sleep on her couch rather than me walkign for about 2 hours in the snow in skimpy clubwear to get home.

i remember the tshirt she often wore, an anime print with the words "Punk as f*ck" written across.

i'm looking at my bookcase with my SLA roleplaying books, a farewell gift from her when i left for america two years ago.
"for Kai, think of us all as you roll those damage dice!, we'll miss you!, love Steph" written on the inside cover.

but most of all i remember her as Auntie Steph, her motherly approach to everyone around her, it was nither insulting or belittling, she ment it with genuine care and compassion that is a rare jewel to be treasured in this age.

To Auntie Steph, 28 years old, one of the few people i would consider family in this world.
May she keep the seats warm and the d20's rolling till we all join her, wherever she is..
