Yeah, you've probably scratched the surface a bit. When that happens, the cells around the scratch sort of slide over and fill it in. That's usually a good thing. However, if your eyes are a little dry, you end up pulling those cells right on out again. That's where the irritation and sharp pains come in. Get yourself some plain old saline eye drops or moisturizing drops (but none of those red eye/allergy reducing types). Use them often. You should be better in no time.

If it continues to hurt, just let me know and we can do a little makeshift surgery with my melon baller. Bwhahahahah!

And remember to wear eye protection the next time you try to eat anything...

What, and I appreciate I may not wish to know, is a melon baller for? And don't say balling melons! I mean, they're round already...

imagen a mini icecream scoup lauren, that when you squeeze the handle, a mechanisim makes the semi circle become a hollow ball.
you then stop squeezeing the handle and hey presto, you have a ball of melon flesh, about the size of a pingpong ball or somesuch.
provided you jam the scoup into a melon before hand :P

you can put em with icecream, or on cocktail sticks for example.
oh and eat them XD

Heh. Pretty close. The difference between the icecream scoop and the mb is that besides being tiny (pretty close to the size of an eye when removed from the socket), the mb also has a sharp, serrated edge. Perfect for makeshift eye surgery!

No, Kai. I haven't ripped one from anyone's eye socket... yet.

So why? Too many years in college! We got cadavers and assorted pickled parts in human anatomy. 9Didn't get to disect one, though. Worked on pig eyes instead.) If I'm remembering correctly, the average human eye is just a tiny bit over 3/4 of an inch from front to back.

Just wait until I tell you stories about the things I learned in Human Parasitology. *shudder*
