You DNA fans out there will no doubt know Mr. Adams's notes on the writing process; for him, it involved an extraordinary number of baths, walks, cups of tea, etc. In fact, a whole host of things entirely unrelated to the actual task of writing. In the years since reading that for the first time, I've come to identify with it more and more.
Some things I can just sit down and write. It's not a matter of the type of text; some essays spill out of my fingers and onto virtual paper in one sitting, while some fics have to be dragged kicking and screaming from my brain. It's just that, sometimes, you have to really think things through before you write them down. And that annoys me. I'm terribly, terribly impatient. So naturally, the fact that I haven't actually written more than a sentence for my exam paper yet disturbs me. But really, it's a matter of thought. It's just five double spaced pages - the actual writing will take no time at all. I just need to get it clear in my mind first.
But before that, I'll have a look at my
Gunmen of the Apocalypse caps again.
And then go for a run. When my ipod is charged.
*sigh*
