The Winds...

Have finally come to the mountains. What does this mean? It means our weather has officially changed. If you were to look at the weather forecast for today on Wednesday you would of seen Cloudy with highs in the 50's. Now as I look out the front door its rainy, foggy, and very very windy. Now this is nothing new up here. I mean when you live at any elevation your going to get some wind. We're about 3000 feet above sea level and the winds are currently whipping around at a modest 15-20 with gusts in the 30's It could be higher but as I don't have any way to measure said wind it will be a conservative guess. There have been days where I would have to stop in the driveway and clear out tree branches before I could get to the road and to work. Its just one of the many things I like about the weather up here. It's always unpredictable and keeps you on your toes. Some days the fog is so thick here you drive down the mountain more by memory then by actually seeing the road. And you can always spot the people who don't know the mountain roads that well. I won't brag because to do so would be arrogant, but I will say that after driving this road every day for the past 2 years I have learned when and where the turns are more by feeling then by seeing. Also when you can see them the road reflectors keep you out of trouble.

Living up here has it's own dangers. Wildlife will keep you looking over your shoulders to be sure. The most common thing you see up here are, birds, ground squirrels, and deer. You do need to keep your eye's peeled for signs of, bear, coyote, and bobcats. They like to feed on the others. There have been a couple of times that I have seen a bear up here. One time I saw one running across the road and up the embankment to run off into the woods. I think I like watching them run around in the wild as compared to a zoo. There's something soothing about it.

Oh well time to get ready for work.
