Veterans Day
Well, I have the day off. I was going to fly the flag this morning, but we have very high winds in the area, and my condo is being battered by debris and leaves. I don't think putting the flag out right now would be a good idea. There is the possibility it might be ripped off the flagpole or otherwise damaged.
I never forget that we enjoy peace and security because others sacrifice these things to keep us safe and free.
Update: Perhaps it was a good thing I did not put out the flag. A tree crashed down due to the high winds and is resting on the condo next to mine! I did not see any structural damage, so I just hope that is the only tree that comes down here. I have driven through the streets and there are many trees and limbs down. We will be cleaning up from this windstorm for a while.
Update 2: They took down the tree on Friday. I just finished re-cleaning my balcony and re-flushing my drain. The patio will have to wait till Sunday. What a mess!
Final Update: I confirmed with my neighbor that there was no damage from the tree to her condo. Lots of leaves and branches on the roof, but no damage!
