Stand up and other stuff. . .

Jun 21, 2007 16:18

So, last night I tried stand up comedy.

1 - I was nervous. I am going to admit that. That never helps.
2 - It was my first time doing stand up.
3 - The lights were in my eyes on stage and they were way to bright!
4 - The crowd at the Frosty Factory that night was into swearing and sex, not comedy.

How'd it go? Judge for yourselves (oh, and the first line was something like, "My first name's Bridget, a good Irish name.")

We watched Music and Lyrics today. I usually don't like romantic comedies, but this one was cute. It wasn't too sappy. Also, it was about music and overcoming some odds, so that was good. It wans't completely focused on two people falling in love.

I liked a quote and after the movie ended up writing a poem.

Duet

"A melody is like seeing someone for the first time - the physical attraction, sex - but then as you get to know the person, that's the lyrics - their story; who they are underneath. It's the combination of the two that makes it magic." - Music and Lyrics

If you could write the lyrics to my life,
I know you would.
Phrases beautifully pieced together,
the best you could.
I know you'd write of faith and love
and every gift from heaven above.
A moving melody you'd compase
and I would dance on all the notes.
A dazzling duet we would make,
if just this one chance you'd take.
It may take forever to write a song,
but a lifetime together is never too long.

Yeah. . .a bit sappy? I don't know. I like it, though. Now, maybe at some point that right guy will read it. Eh, all in time, all in time. . .
