First of all, last night I finished reading "The Gospel According to Dr. Seuss" by James W. Kemp. Oh, how I love it! These "gospel according to" books make it look like my friends and I are normal no matter what others say! Yay!
Today, I took my mom to school and then I ran resumes around town. I've not heard anything from the Children's Museum. Too bad. I know, give them a chance with things, too, but don't wait too long, either. That can be quite confusing. How long is too long and how short is too short?
Here's a hint to some companies: if you are going to hire somebody the previous week, do not run your ad for two weeks! *ahemdon'sallclothcarwashahem*
Anyway, I have to go to Dippin' Dots tomorrow at 11am.
Of course, I had to get my mom from school and then we had to run errands.
Tonight, we all went to an American Chemical Society meeting that was held at Logan's Roadhouse. it was a presentation about the home brewing of beer and it was quite interesting even though I don't like beer and I'm not going to be brewing any.
I had Roadies and Fries {and I ate only half and the rest are in the fridge). We also shared cheesesticks as an appetizer. Then my mom and I had had cheesecake and Briana had a brownie. I tried to take notes, but things went too fast. However, my dad saved the powerpoint presentation to his laptop, so I can look at the slides.
Of course, I ate the rolls and peanuts while dropping peanut shells on the floor. I brought some peanuts home to give to Marbles. I was being silly and tried to give him a peanut with a shell on it. He didn't take it, so I cracked it open, ready to give him the inside, and he ate the pieces of the shell! Then he ate the inside. After that, he kept eating the whole peanuts - shell and all! When he ate them all, he sniffed for more of them!
Tonight, I also read some "poetry" which really was more prose and was quite bad. My dad agreed - as did my mom and sister. I did not tell them my opinion before reading some of it aloud so they could hear. I actually read all of the "poems" and not the supposed "play in verse."
I knew I had to write and I finally came up with this tonight:
Daddy
My father was sturdy,
strong, unwavering;
Always going,
working, toiling -
Teaching on weekdays,
Laboring on weekends.
I can still smell the sweat,
See his hand caked, dripping
oil, dirt, sawdust -
Never a day without honest work.
He still works, still goes,
but not as fiercely.
He would, but he can't.
The failing knees, the fake leg -
Necessary burdens,
but he lives.
For that,
he is a hero.

I know it's not the greatest and more straightforward, but I think it turned out nicely.
