On the eve,
The last day of the year -
So much to remember
So much to ponder
Each day over
Each day a new dawn.
We've done so much,
Yet we've not yet begun.
Imagine now
A life without chapters,
A life without beginnings and ends,
A life that cannot be happily ever after,
Or life of sudden death.
A new year,
We celebrate.
Say hello to the new,
Goodbye to the old.
New stories to tell
New adventures to hold.
Our time is short,
A few years time -
Enjoy the new year,
Enjoy the sublime.
The starshine,
The moonlight,
The dark sky,
The fireflies.
Goodbye, my old friend.
