It's been 22 Years . . .

Twenty two years.  It's been twenty two years, and I can still remember that day.  I don't think anybody who was old enough to remember that day has forgotten it.

I read tha tthe first plane hit the World Trade Center North Tower at 8:46 a.m. Eastern.

That would've made it 7:46 a.m. Central. I had an 8am class.  I know it was a Psychology class.  It was one of those classes with lots of people which was unlike the majority of my college classes.  Yet, I set right in the front of class.

I have good memories of that class in general, but I don't remember what happened in class that day.  None of us in Frasch hall on the McNeese campus knew about what happened at World Trade Center.  The students and the teacher were in class and we got out of class at 9am central.

I thought it was going to be a normal day and I walked over to Hardnter Hall as at that time, the journalism (Mass Comm) classes were located in the little hallway nearest Sale Rd.

As I got there, there were a couple of students outside of the building talking about some hijacking, but I didn't know the context.   I thought they were talking about some little news story or something from one of their classes.  That wouldn't have been unusual.

So, I kept walking and I went into Hardtner where all the students were directed to simply go take a seat somewhere and watch the news.

Everything was horrifying.  I was numb and didn't really know what to feel.  It was announced that classes were cancelled for the day.  I called the boyfriend that I had at the time.  He had moved to Houston with his parents and I was concerned.  He was fixing his review mirror in his truck.  We talked for a bit and I felt a tiny bit better.

I still went up to my student-work job in the language lab, but nothing happened that day.  One of the Spanish students that I saw often was  up there and she was telling everybody there how she knew somebody in New York.  We stayed up there until she knew her friend was safe.

I can remember being in fear for the next few weeks.  What if they decided to try to attack Lake Charles or Sulphur or Westlake?  After all, all the plants are right there.

And, I knew I was missing Briana lots today, but knowing that it is the anniversary of 9/11 also makes sense that I'd be feeling bad today.
