Tired, Banners . . .

I've been thinking about what I want to write for LJ Idol. I have an image that came to mind, so I'm pretty sure this time my writing will be fiction. If I need to, I'll stop by the green rooms although it's not usually how I work with my writing.

Anyway, one of my short stories was accepted for publication in The Arena which is my college's writing journal. That's exciting because it is one of those journals where it has to be accepted after being read. They have the process where they name isn't known and the story is chosen. I had submitted two stories and the one that got chosen for submission was the one that I really love. I like my other story, but I really love this one.

I don't know if I can submit other things or just the story that was accept into The Arena, but once that is published, I can submit to Rougarou at ULL. Then, I don't know about other Literary Journals.

Anyway, other than that, exciting news for me is that I found out more about my family history from my father's ancestors. I still have no idea about my mother's ancestors other than the fact that my great grandparents (mother's father's parents) came to this country from Lithuania. I'd love to find out more. I look and do research, but I don't find anything.

Back when the U.S. Census was supposed to hire me, but the “boss” was a jerk and didn't let me do any work even though I was the only one who had a perfect score on the test, I learned that the U.S. Cenus happens every ten years and results are only made public after a census is 70 years. That means the first census where my grandfather appeared was finally released in 2000. My maternal grandfather was born February 14, 1926, so the first census done when he was alive took place in 1930.

The 14 year old John Conchis mentioned here was my grandfather: http://www.archives.com/1940-census/william-conchis-pa-67913840

I'm not sure how they got “Conchio,” but my guess would be bad handwriting or worn handwriting. Anyway, the John Conchis born around 1926 in Schuykill, PA was my grandfather. I know of the people and have them on a family tree. However, I don't know who everybody on the list is. I'm not sure how everybody would be related to my grandpa even though I have a family tree at Geni with many of the others, there are still those few that make me question who they are.

I wish I had somebody who was really into this so that person could look up about my family. As far as I know, on my mother's side, it goes back to Lithuania and then there aren't documents. It would be awesome to have somebody tell me all about my ancestors.

I am falling asleep at times as I am sitting at my computer. I am fine with that because it means I am getting the sleep that I need. I was at the dentist yesterday afternoon and the numbing makes me feel dizzy because it obviously goes up to the inner ear when my mouth is numbed. Then, I feel woozy for quite a bit. Then, Krueger (that's Briana's dog) wasn't behaving last night, but Briana was the one actually making all the nose. That kept me awake.

Then, I have this thing where I'll end up sitting straight up on the bed and suddenly waking up. I'll be so straight that my back hurts. However, this time, I didn't wake when I was sitting straight up on the edge of my bed. I only awoke when I almost fell out of my bed! This happened twice last night!

I had to sleep through an extra alarm because I was so tired that I needed that sleep. I am obivously still tired at times. However, I am going to go see Voyeur by the Bridgeman|Packer Dance company since I get in free with my McNeese ID.

There's so much to do when it's Banner's Season. I love it, but sometimes I have to choose! Choosing between things can be the hardest part!
