So I'm having a bunch of problems with my work computer, mostly with the windows installer. It won't install a couple of updates which I've read is probably the reason why some of the software I want to install won't install.
So I'm googling for some things to help my computer and come across some questions people asked in forums about their pc computers.
Most of the people answering these questions are legitimately trying to help, or maybe someone makes a funny observation.
What is NOT funny is a reply stating to get a Mac. Cause being told to switch to Mac is going to help your PC problem.
I saw this a few times and even though I'm not the person in the forums asking the questions, I got quite irritated.
First of all, the choice of Mac or PC or Linux is entirely subjective. Vappy, I think you had an entry awhile back talking about this. Its all about what you need it for, what your budget is, whether you're into software or hardware, etc.
I have nothing against Mac computers save for the fact that I can't build one myself. I had a professor that swore by them, and when I was in the market for a laptop some years back I even looked at Macs because I heard how powerful they were.
I chose a PC because they were more affordable and I already have an intense knowledge of all things PC. I got twice the memory and features for the same price. And when I bought a new desktop several months back (not to replace the laptop mind you, but as an extra computer for some things I wanted to do), I chose another PC because again, affordability. And this time I also chose PC because I like the ability to go in there and put whatever new hardware I want to. And I like how there are no issues with compatibility unless we're talking 64 or 32 bit. I also know about programming PCs and how to fix them.
But none of that matters. Again, this isn't a diss to Macs. I've used them, they work just fine.
Its just irritating that if you try to go get help about your PC online, you have a bunch of idiots who think its funny to chime in with 'I can help you... Get a Mac!" Like they're some great comedian.
Even if they were right and Macs were better all around, that still wouldn't help anyone. Because they have a PC, not a Mac, and most people don't have a couple grand just lying around to go get a new Mac with. And then new software or accessories to go with it because the PC ones wont work with it.
Sorry, I just got... really frustrated with people there for a minute.
