Update!
I haven't updated for a while. I want to rectify that.
Foremost, I should be asleep. I work tomorrow and I won't get enough rest if I stay up much longer. It's not a big deal if I'm late, just inconvenient really.
Work is a strange situation right now. The hierarchy at work has since altered radically. To recap, my old Boss and some loon they brought in from another store both got fired. Mark, the assistant manager was aiming for a promotion in the hic-up, but it didn't pan out that way. More over, in the shuffle up, he lost his AM title for very dumb reasons (not his fault).
Moti is the Manager now, and Tracy, a guy from Fairview is the Assistant manager. Mark works split between two stores, which isn't unlike me at the start of my employment. We also had Jordan, who was fired in his probationary period by Moti (a little abruptly, though not totally uncalled for) and has since been replaced with Caitlin and Jess. Caitlin is a little out of place in the job -- she's not bad at it, but she's not really progressing, either. Jess is a pretty reliable hand around the shop, despite our collective inability to count. (Long story)
And so it has been. Because of Christmas Season, the mall is open extra hours all the time. This is keeping me from getting groceries easily, since I normally shop at Food Basics, and they close before I get there now. I work pretty well strictly closing shifts at the moment. Blagh.
Still, it's not bad. But I am in clear consideration of a new job in the very near future. Amanda, from Black's, has since moved on to Telus, which she seems to be enjoying (despite working in a boat). The prospect of commission is now appealing, so long as it's not overly competitive. (I imagine I could handle the competition, but I just don't think I need that stress at work. I DO however like the idea of being rewarded and compensated for doing good work.)
However, in light of my upcoming graduation, I'm thinking something more relevant. I've talked with people at a few media developers in Toronto, so I might be able to squeeze my way in somewhere like that. I wouldn't be surprised if getting a desk job would also mean something of a 50%+ pay increase, which would be nice. There's also consideration of doing something simple like freelance photo editing, alteration and restorations, since my shop-skillz are clearly quite keen at the moment. I can certainly compete with the rates my competition would be asking. It would also mean flexibility.
The winter break is pertinent, though. I'm coming down to O-Town next week, (Friday night) and then Saturday is the family Christmas party. (I'm bringing cookies! :D) I've started making arrangements on who I can see and when. I expect to spend most of my time with the Guys, since the plan was to run a whole story arc for Aberrant Legends while I'm home ('A Deal with the Devil').
Even in light of this, though, I'm absolutely basking in the concept of having TWO weeks of nothing but LEISURE time. Man, I haven't even graduated yet and this seems like heaven on a platter. Woe is my future! Regardless, I haven't had a chance to talk to some of you lately -- we need to make some plans! (This means YOU, Danny and Jaz!) :P
I may have to sacrifice an early day in the vacation to the completion of one of my gifts, though -- It's mostly finished, but there's still quite a bit to do. It's an important one, too. I wish I had time to make more gifts, but the income my job's providing has given me the gifting opportunity I haven't had for a while. Sadly, things are still expensive. Oh well. :)
