Apparently, people read this

I'm a little shocked.
Well, no not really. I mean, I know people read my journal, but I did just find out that someone has at the very least taken a look at my journal of their own volition. (I have it linked in a few locations, but I don't really advertise otherwise)

And that's cool. It's why the links are there, and why the journal is here. But I spent a long while assuming it was an exercise in futility.

I'm working on a portfolio redesign! I'd love some input. I don't have layouts (still in the works), but the rough design I'm aiming with is a monochrome pallat -- all the graphics are going to be drawn with pen or marker and scanned to give it a sketchbook feel. All black and white, maybe a spot colour... There's going to be a lot of white space on the outside. I was thinking of having a charicature of myself on the side, leaning against the display window.

Hum... Ok, to be more clear. Pen charicature, centered vertically (give or take), leaning against a box which starts at the shoulder and goes down to about the waist, so it's go an upside-down L shape, sorta. The main box is loose and wavey, clearly hand drawn. In the galleries there'd be 8 items inside this box per page, the thumbnails for each of these would be contained inside similar, smaller hand drawn boxes. I'm thinking the thumbnails would be black and white as well, with a colour mouse-over.

So, with that image, site navigation would be below the main box. Probably hand drawn words, maybe with icons. Hmm.

I'm trying to decide what content to put IN to this portfolio, though. I already know that I want it to accomplish two things: spread my art around by word-of-mouth, and encourage commissions.
So I'm thinking about putting up photo manipulations, digital paintings, and colorized drawings. I was considering putting up some of my videos, and there's also the possibility of putting up writings and game design material, but I don't know if that would be a good idea. Similarly, I can put up my misc art, the stuff I have a harder time classifying (mostly sculpture, but it's all pretty wierd).

Thoughts? Opinions? I'm looking for input on this. It's something I'd like to have together by the end of January... I wouldn't be working on it till after the break, at the least.

In all other things, life is good. I'll write up a full review of Zelda later. (I beat it, fyi)

Later everyone,
- Kagirinai
