So before I go shower and start working for the day, I thought I'd post the recent thoughts that are floating about the most coherently in here ( Read more... )

Dude, everyone is moving to Vancouver. No wonder housing costs an eye and a lung there. All the cool people are leaving Ottawa.

And you didn't take me up on my offer to commission art from you. I'm hurt.

Seriously, though, (though I was serious about commissioning art from you), I'm wishing you the best of luck. I think whoring yourself out becoming an intern would be an awesome way to get your foot in the door in the video game industry. I think, as an intern, Montreal might be better than Vancouver (because housing in Montreal is really cheap, and, with the Metro, their public transportation system is better; as an intern, you wouldn't make much money (usually)), but, hey, if you're going to Vancouver, I know some awesome people out there that I can hook you up with, like the wonderful and amazing succulentpoet. Wherever you end up, I want you to be happy. :)

It's just for a summer anyways. :P
And I've got no plans, just an idea so far. I might end up in Montreal. I've never been there either. (well, not in my adult life) It'd be an easier move and I hear it's a great fun place to be, but I also am a little.. uh, francophobic?

I didn't realize you wanted to commission something -- I must have misread you prior comment. (I thought you were reinforcing that you agreed people would pay for my art, that it did have value)

If you do want to commission something, email me about it. I've got time. :)

With the way that Vancouver is sucking people into it, I don't doubt that, if you went there, I'd never hear from you again, except for your name in the credits of the next video game I buy. :P

As to my last comment, I did say that I'd pay money for it. I'll give you an e-mail when I have a clearer idea of what I want.

(Actually, I do have a clear idea of one thing I want, but that'd be a mural in my apartment, which it'd be hard for you to do from Toronto).

As to being "francophobic," it depends upon how francophobic you are. If you hate all French people, it's going to be hard, but you can easily work without knowing the language. Elizabeth, a quasi-friend of mine, lives in Montreal and doesn't speak French, and she hasn't really had any problem.

It's an exaggeration. I'm not really afraid or hateful of french people, it's just that in the last few years I've gotten to the point that I wish I did know the language better. I know that Montreal in particular is very English-friendly, but I sorta feel like a jerk being the guy who doesn't speak the language (even if I'm not alone).

At least in Vancouver I'm used to not being able to speak the languages because it's the same in Toronto. :P

I realise that it's an exaggeration. I was being silly in response. :P

And if you want to improve your language skills, isn't Montreal the best place to go for it? There are a lot of free programs to help people learn the language there.

Isn't it funny how they're thinking of passing the same language laws in BC that are in Quebec?
