Breaking out the tape deck

Jan 22, 2007 23:04

I was feeling a little nostalgic yesterday, after having a conversation about Milli Vanilli at work last week and a conversation about 90's hair on Saturday. So I was about to listen to my Cyndi Lauper's greatest hits CD, when I thought to myself...why don't I just go REALLY Old skool. I took the tape collection off the shelve in my closet and cracked open Cyndi Lauper's She's So Unusual..a gift from Santa when I was in first grade!!! 1986.

I don't remember the last time I used the tape player function on my boom box. I forgot how painful it was to play a tape. I put it in, freaked out for a second that it was broken from lack of use, and then realized that you need to REWIND first before you can play. And then after the 4th song, the tape stops. And then you have to flip it over for the other side! I wanted to listen to a song again, and said screw it, I would have to rewind again. Too much darn work to listen to music. I did listen to the Cyndi Lauper cd afterwards, for a nice comparison...and oh, the sound quality is SO much better.

Here's to progress....
