Last Saturday 4/29, spent the day in NYC: took a nice pleasant walk through the southern end of Central Park, but unfortunately didn't get to go any of the tours provided by the
Central Park Conservancy. We had lunch at the bottom of Rockefeller center, and then decided to buy tickets for
Top of the Rock. The breathtaking views of NYC and Jersey from the top of the Rockefeller Center were absolutely worth it. We then went to the
New York City Fire Museum, which was okay-- nice to say I've been there, done that. We then had a nice dinner at this cozy restaurant, also in SoHo, and then made our way up to Lincoln Center for the Tribeca Film Festival where we saw Jeff Goldblum-- amazing.
This past Sunday, 5/7, took a trip to Brooklyn. I drove there, and on the Verazzano Bridge! (with major help from Helen). We went to the
Brooklyn Botanic Gardens in Prospect Heights, and then took a
trolley ride around Prospect Park and Brooklyn Museum, Botanic Gardens, and Public Library.
Both were incredibly gorgeous days, weather-wise. I finished both days feeling euphoric, like I had traveled to a far away place, and finally returned after several days travel....Strange, because NYC and Brooklyn are only an hour away!
Brooklyn is huge! So much more stuff to see there, and Manhattan too!! I wonder if I'll get it all done! Especially since, I don't visit NYC that often! Last time was 12/18 when we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the Van Gogh drawings exhibit. So a full 4 months went by before my 2nd trip. I hope to increase my frequency starting July and August, and start knocking some things off my very long list of stuff to do. Let me know if I should publish my list, or simply keep you in mind, if you are interested in joining me for any of it.
