Are you the kind of person that actually LISTENS to the words when you hear a song?
Or do you just hum along, or worse--- sing the wrong words?
Unlike my brother who listens to lyrics like a Born-again reads the Bible, and quotes lyrics on AIM as if they were Shakespeare's words, I expose my careless listening skills in my casual singing aloud.
And I am glad that I am not the only one who does this-- I had one of those daily calendars of misheard lyrics a few years ago. They never make sense, and if they do-- it's bizarre
how about Elvis Presley's People love bagels?
or ELO's Medieval Woman?
I wish I could think of more right now. They're hilarious.
So today's misheard lyric is My Eyes of Georgia. That's right-- all these years, I thought that Frankie Valli was singing My eyes of Georgia...and it's really My eyes adored you.
And reading the lyrics to My eyes adored you, I notice the reference to NJ's Barnegat Bay.
And so I find that Frankie Valli was born Frances Castellucio in Newark, NJ in 1937.
NJ pride, baby! Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons!! Move over Bon Jovi and Bruce!!
