Speculation time

Jan 06, 2011 23:46

Hello. I am a long time lurker who have finally bothered to get a LJ account. Yaaay!

I recall there being a lot of speculation about CDK a way back - and I don't believe anyone has solved it yet?

So. Let us speculate. )

I'm rooting for Orbkiller.

Hopefully she wasn't nibbled into (more?)death by dragonflies.

That could very well be! I once thought that Orbkiller was Heyoka - but recently, I've started to think that they're not very similar after all - and that Heyoka may well be the figure one can see in the ice that Orbkiller is sitting on. Of course, one doesn't have to rule out the other in Kano's head - but still.

To note: if you read the rest of Chapter 25 (everything before the page you linked in the Morgue), you will see evidence that Orbkiller was that woman tortured for half a year (then beaten to death).

Oh, the lovely things you have to say to discuss the plot in this comic.

But still, the continuity of arm injury and death details is much more likely than having Heyoka jump in there.

Oh yes, I think the Heyoka theory was really just wishful thinking from those who wanted her back in the story soon. Then again. Anyone and anything in Kano's head might well be tainted by the others living in there - as demonstrated by Red when he says that he's suffering from guilt because Kano's mind is affecting him.

Well, first place it turns up is on Red's hat, right before we go into the flashback with Karen. Then we see it on that note on the freezer. I'm wondering if, perhaps, that's another name Red goes by. Think about it -- we know that Red's magic-savvy, so he knows that revealing his true name can give people power over him (e.g., the magic arrow). That's the reason he goes by "Red," and why he was so shocked when Dark knew his real name. Now, in our world he probably doesn't just use "Red;" he'd need a proper, full name as an alias. So, what if that alias's initials are CDK?

Oh, and one thing I always noticed is that in Kano's hallucination of Jamie's murder, Red says that she misspelled his name when she signed his yearbook. How, I wonder, does one misspell a name like James? Further evidence that he didn't even use his real name when he was in our world ( ... )

I was under the impression that Red was an entirely normal psychopath. He used knives at first, then his bare hands, but I don't think he knew anything about "magic" until he got into Kano's head. Jamie most likely misspelled the surname "Beethoven", which is the most complicated you get in his name.

That doesn't mean he didn't have an alias - I just doubt any alias was used as far back as high school, which is when I assume the yearbook in question was made. Or, if he used it during high school, it wasn't know inside the school, but outside of it, wherever and whenever he did any criminal activity.

I get what you're saying, but I can't imagine he had all that much of an opportunity to gain possession of whatever powers he has trapped inside Kano's brain. And I think his preference is still for knives and those sorts of things, but he saves his magic (yeah, I wish there were a better word for it, too) for when he really wants to curbstomp someone, as opposed to torturing them slowly to death. As for Jamie misspelling "Beethoven," I can't imagine she used his last name when signing his yearbook. I mean, seriously, nobody does that. Even if my theory is incorrect, I think there's definitely something fishy about that. And when I say it's fishy, I mean it smells like a Luka-clue ( ... )

This might all be a coincidence, but I just found another Valentine...

Also (sorry for the doublepost, but I have no edit feature), where is your icon from? That's hilarious.

I have been into kagerou for a long time, but I've always been very lazy when it comes to fandom interaction... but lately I too have started to miss the speculations and fanworks and such in this community. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I saved this icon a long time ago... but I think it was in fact from here... a post where people asked questions to Kano and Luka drew the answers? I think. I don't quite remember.

And yes, that is a very interesting theory... I was wondering why two labels are initials, two are normal names (Kano and Heyoka) and then there is Nadia, whose name is all in caps. And there is also one label that is obscured.

I'm a little sad I missed out on all the discussion years ago, and it's been a while since I've read through the whole comic, so I really don't have a clue what it could be. Could be the initials of the name of the body? Is Kano Jurgen his real name or just the name of that particular personality? Don't have to be one and the same. In fact I'd be a little surprised if it was. If you really wanted to look deep into it, it would have made sense if Kano got hit with the arrow in chapter 5 regardless of if he was "out" or not, if it was the true name of the body... a lot of speculation on my part though, because I don't remember if this was confirmed or not, haha.

Oooh I like that theory a lot! Especially since Kano doesn't even seem to be 'behind the wheel' - at least it's insinuated that while living with Heyoka, Kid was the one who was in control of the body for most of the time. And I remember something about another personality of his that hasn't surfaced yet - but maybe he was discarded. I hope not, 'cause he's funny. http://atomicfireball.deviantart.com/art/Machinehead-Comic-16087266
