Just some observations from over the last few years
I can tell if a client smokes or always use certain perfumes - when I open the mail I sometimes get bombarded with the scent of environment the document was in. This doesn't happen all the time but it happens.
If you charge personal things (piercings, ear gauges, tattoos, Viagra, adult things) to your business's accounts and then have us do your business return we will see those items on your statements if you have us reconcile your accounts for you.
We sometimes have to chuckle at the things people try to convince us they should be getting a deduction for (I'm sorry the IRS makes the rules and animal food and care items are not tax deductible unless it is a business expense, if not it just the expense of owning an animal)
Telling us the information was sent to us weeks ago does not make it true when the postmark and our log in system say otherwise
Pestering us every day/every other day will not make the return get done any faster
Certain clients don't seem to realize that they can ask me some of the easier questions or leave a message with me to pass along to my father.
Along those lines, the more clients call and say they must speak with him and then ask or tell him something they could have told me, the less work he can do (because of all the interruptions) and the more frustrated we get. (I don't know how many times I have had clients call and insist them must speak to my father right away and after he gets off the phone with them it was something I could have have easily taken care of like telling them the fax number or passing along to my father at a more convenient time that they dropped whatever item in the mail.)
and lastly we frequently hear this in the middle of tax season "you guys look/sound so tired, you should take a break" this is usually right after we have finished that persons return
fun to share,
real life
