people who don't know how to conduct themselves in public places remind me of the overly excitable dogs that come into work. when dogs lack all emotional restraint and wag their tails with such ferocity that their whole body is thrown off balance and utter uncontrollable high-pitched whimpers suggesting total neural overload, you can't help but laugh. when people mirror that behavior, it's just kind of creepy. the girl at the computer next to me is doing roughly that.
i understand giggling to yourself when looking at pictures on a computer and sometimes it's funny when a neighbor does that because the idea of struggling to stifle giggles in public computing centers is amusing. what's creepy, though, is when you start cooing and talking to yourself. don't mumble out loud the comment you're writing on someone's facebook picture, especially while making weird coo-giggle noises. the internet's myriad social websites are amusing, yes, but the noises humans make are social things for personal interactions and your computer is not a social thing or a real personal interaction.
sssssttttooooooopppppp.
