You've seen him in my avatars. I might have talked about him a few times, but finally he has arrived at my house.
Quite a nice transition, huh? Very accurate to Zuza's drawing of him, so now I can talk about his past and how he came to be.
First of all, his Pokemon team. Pikachu, Ivysaur, Torchic, Totodile, Eevee and Noctowl. Quite a strange team, right? That team was the result of Chibi. While playing Pokemon, I'd always try to find a unique team, just for myself...but I was unable to because I liked Ash's team too much. Chibi was one of the people I knew who deeply encouraged playing with your favourites more than anything else, even if they weren't evolved. One day I asked her for a team, and she gave me that one. It had everything. Pikachu was always on my team no matter what, and everyone knew how obsessed I was about Torchic. One of the Bulbasaur family also appeared on my team a lot, and Ivysaur is a fine balance between Bulbasaur's cuteness and Venusaur's power. One of the Eevee family or more was also on my team most of the time, but this time it was plain Eevee. I remember Anubi and Hiku saying that Eevee was fit for me as well, but I could never remember why. Finally, there's the flyer Noctowl. Noctowl surprised me. I always thought Pidgeot was the coolest looking bird, and Swellow was the most powerful...yet Noctowl was always forgotten, even in the anime. Overtime, I grew to like Noctowl, and he is now my favourite bird. Oh wait, I forgot about Totodile. What can I say about Totodile? He's not as cute as the other three water starters, and even now, I still dislike him. Both Hiku and Chibi said Totodile was my type of water Pokemon and I'm not sure why. He's the only one I'd replace with someone else, but after using him in D/P, he's quite an amazing little critter.
Now, on to the actual character. Last year, Zuza and I did an art trade. In exchange for a yaoi story between Deidara and Sasori, I would get a picture of my choice. How could I refuse? So with the nice team that Chibi had assembled, I asked for a picture similar to Ash's when he won the Orange League. As for myself, I wanted to look like a samurai with a bandana. I finally accepted that bandans were cool when I saw the character Kaidou Kaoru from Prince of Tennis. With such a vague description given to her, Zuza was able to come up with a badass image of me, and I couldn't ask for anything better.
Finally, there's Yuuki's abilities. At the time I asked for the picture, I was playing Soul Calibur 3. Setsuka was my best character, and I thought her fighting style of iaido/battoujutsu was pretty cool, so I asked for the same weapon as her. Over time, I regretted that decision. While that style works well for a video game, in a story it's just plain boring. However, I can't get rid of the umbrella. It's there forever, and it's become a part of Yuuki that I cannot remove. So I thought of what abilities I could give Yuuki to make him balanced, keeping in mind that he was in the world of Pokemon, where samurai and ninja already exist. In the end, I thought of my favourite main characters and what abilities they had. I've kept Yuuki's battoujutsu style. However, while reading Rurouni Kenshin I came across a video game series called Samurai Showdown 3, where there was a character named Shizumaru Hisame. He used an umbrella to fight, along with a sword carried on his back. I decided to make Yuuki like that, but there was one more character who influenced Yuuki's abilities.
<3 YuuTen. The greatest couple ever. >_>
I wanted Yuuki's attack style to be like Tenten's, but that would be impossible since she uses a scroll and he uses an umbrella. With Tenten's recent fascination for explosives in Naruto Shippuden, I gave Yuuki bombs to carry of his own when he didn't feel like knocking people out with his umbrella. There's smoke bombs, light bombs, freeze bombs and burst bombs. Fun fun, wouldn't you say? Oh yeah, one more thing to note. I try not to have Yuuki use his sword often. After all, like many other main characters, he prefers not to kill unless he's forced to.
Last of all, Yuuki's actual attacks! I've only given him two. Tsunami Shigure (Tsunami Shower) was an attack that KS originally came up with. It's funny, but my character in his WtW fanfic used an umbrella! The attack was originally called Make it Rain, where the umbrella would launch metal spikes along with high pressured jets of water. Yuuki's other attack is Mayonaka no Sougi, or Midnight Funeral in English. This is just a high speed battoujutsu attack. I originally had something much different, but it would have made Yuuki too broken.
Well, I guess that's all I have to type. ^^ I'm so happy about this plush. It's great to see a character you've created in physical form.
