Fandom: Alice Nine
Genre: drabble, romance, fluff (?)
Pairing: Nao x Saga (or Saga x Nao)
Rating: PG-13 to be safe
Summary: I could hear his soft voice riding a certain tune-- a song. One I was vaguely familiar with, but I can't seem to register from where I heard it before.
Disclaimer: Purely fictional.
Notes: I missed writing my OTP (I was messing with Tora, Shou and Pon these last two weeks), so my muses practically begged for this to be written while I was washing the dishes a while ago. Hopefully, this drabble will become a full story. Or a part of a multichap, perhaps? I'm a very very slow writer. This took me around 40 minutes.

I woke up with a splitting pang invading my head. Massaging my temples with my thumb and middle finger, I cast my gaze around.
This was not my room, but it had an all too familiar feel to it. Of course, how could I forget? I decided to sleep over here at the last minute. Thankfully, Nao-san was used to my sudden visits by now.
The futon on my right was disheveled but empty. I stood, albeit a little unsteady because I haven't fully shaken my limbs to wake, and searched for my host.
I found him at the balcony, his body half-hanging over the banister. When I came closer, I could hear his soft voice riding a certain tune-- a song. One I was vaguely familiar with, but I can't seem to register from where I heard it before.
"Yarusenai hakanasa ni mi wo yudaneru hodo... sonna ayaui jidai ni..."
I surrendered myself to a dismal emptiness... in the most critical of times...
My foot accidentally caught the corner of the sliding door. I had to bite my lip to stop myself from crying out in pain, but the noise had already make him turn to look at me.
"Saga-kun?"
He hurried over me and helped me back towards our futons, where he started nursing my stubbed toe. I cringed when he lightly put an ice pack on it. How could I be so careless?
"This should do the trick."
"Nao-san, sing that song again."
"Hmm?"
"That song you were singing earlier."
He looked at me curiously, but even in the dark I could tell he's embarrassed.
"Er, shouldn't I take care of this first?"
He nodded towards my foot. The aching has dulled now, though. Probably because my attention was too focused on the one tending it. No, the ice pack must have really done the trick.
I leaned until our foreheads touched.
"Sing for me."
A little smile tugged on the ends of his lips.
"Sou, ai ga subete tasukeru to wa... omowanai... dakedo kimi no hohoemi..."
I don't think that love can... save everything... but your smile...
He was getting closer and closer as his voice went softer and softer.
"Kokoro wo iyasu... sono kuchibiru ni..."
...heals my heart... and in those lips...
He can no longer continue the song, for I had taken his singing lips into my own.

Song is "River" by Tatsuya Ishii, 2nd ending theme of Gundam SEED. Translation taken from
here, but I tweaked the ones from "dakedo kimi no..." onwards.
